Who we work
alongside.
NIS is a young association, and this list is short on purpose: we would rather name one real relationship than pad the page out. Below is what we have and what we bring to it.
Current affiliations
-
Affiliated · chaired by the NIS president
Shenzhen & Hong Kong Afro-Tech Forum
A cross-border forum for African technologists working in Shenzhen and Hong Kong. NIS members make up a substantial part of its membership.
What NIS brings
- Reach
- Nigerian students, researchers and professionals across every district of Shenzhen, with coordinators at six institutions.
- A single address
- An elected committee with defined roles, so an institution has one place to write to rather than a group chat.
- Continuity
- Three completed executive terms with a formal handover between each, so the association keeps going when the people running it move on.
- Convening
- We can put a room of Nigerian professionals and postgraduates together in this city, which very few organisations can.
Who we are looking to work with
- Peer national and regional associations across the Greater Bay Area
- Universities with Nigerian students in Shenzhen and Guangdong
- Nigerian government and diplomatic missions in China
- Chinese institutions working on Africa-China exchange
- Businesses run by members, and businesses that employ them
