Membership

Tell us you
are here.

Membership is free. The register is how NIS knows who is in the city and which district they are in, so that when somebody there runs into trouble the association knows who to call.

Why join

Why members put
their name down.

  1. 01

    It costs nothing.

There is no fee to join and none later. The association is run by members who all have day jobs, and the register is the only thing it asks you for.

  2. 02

Somebody nearby knows you are here.

The register records the district you live in. When something goes wrong in Bao'an, the association can see who else is in Bao'an and call them.

  3. 03

You are in the members' group.

That is where meetings, events and the practical warnings get passed around. Most of it never reaches the public part of this site.

  4. 04

The committee is elected by members.

Three executive terms have been completed so far, each ending in a formal handover to the committee that came next.

Four answers are required, plus the consent box at the end. Everything else is optional. If the form comes back with a problem, your answers are held on this phone so you do not type them twice, and nowhere else.

Why we are asking
To keep the membership register and to contact you about NIS activities. It also tells us where members live, so the association can reach people in their own district.
How long we keep it
For as long as you are a member, plus twelve months after you tell us you have left or stop replying, at which point the record is deleted.
Who sees it
The elected executive committee only. It is never sold or published, and no third party is given a copy.
Getting it deleted
Write to the committee and we will delete your record. You do not have to give a reason.
What we never ask for
Passport numbers, visa numbers, residence permit numbers, or any identity document details. Nothing NIS does needs them, so if a form claiming to be from us asks for one, it did not come from us.

  1. 01 A committee member reads it, usually within a week.
  2. 02 You are added to the members' group.
  3. 03 Someone in your district says hello.
