Logging a visit is separate from membership. It tells NIS you are in the city, so somebody can point you at the right market or the right person, and reach you if something goes wrong while you are far from home.

Ask plainly for what you need: somebody who knows Huaqiangbei, a translator, a halal restaurant, an introduction.

What happens to what you type here

Why we are asking: So the association knows which visitors are in the city and can offer practical help during the visit. It also means we can contact you if there is a problem.
How long we keep it: Twenty-four months from the date of your visit, then deleted.
Who sees it: The elected executive committee only, plus any member specifically asked to help you, and you are told before that happens.
Getting it deleted: Write to the committee and we will delete your record. You do not have to give a reason.
What we never ask for: Passport numbers, visa numbers, residence permit numbers, or any identity document details. Nothing NIS does needs them, so if a form claiming to be from us asks for one, it did not come from us.
