The port and the coast. Quiet and green, and further from everything than the map suggests.
Yantian is one of the largest container ports in the world. It also has the best beaches in the city at Dameisha and Xiaomeisha, which surprises people who only know the name from a shipping document.
It is quiet, low-rise by Shenzhen standards, and the air is noticeably cleaner. Only Line 8 serves it, and that one line decides most of what living here is like.
It works well if your job is at the port. If it is not, you will spend a good part of every week travelling back into the city.
